Stories of hope and change
The work of recovery is deeply personal.
Every man who comes to Joshua House carries his own experiences, challenges, and reasons for seeking a new beginning. While each story is different, they all share a common thread: the possibility of change.
These stories reflect the courage it takes to begin again and the community that makes that journey possible.
I grew up around addiction and abuse, and started drinking when I was just six or seven years old. As I got older, addiction and jail took over my life.
In 2017, everything changed when I found God, and through His grace, my relationships were restored, and I found peace, purpose, and a foundation for real recovery. Today, I’m living in freedom, no longer defined by addiction, but guided by faith and strength.

Before coming to Joshua House, my life unraveled under loss, addiction, and grief, I lost my brother, my nephew, and my parents as everything around me fell apart. After heart failure left me sober in a hospital bed for the first time in years, I reached out to Joshua House, still angry and questioning God.
Through community and counselling, I’ve found hope and peace again, and today I trust that God is rebuilding my life from the ashes.

For most of my life, I was addicted and ended up in some dark places, including being homeless more than once and putting drugs ahead of my family.
After coming to Joshua House, I found God and began to experience real healing, rebuilding relationships and changing how I live day to day.
Now, my life is completely different, and my focus is on continuing to grow in faith and stay on the path I never thought was possible.
Michel Doucette
I came from a loving family, but after losing both my parents to cancer, my life slipped into addiction, and over time I lost my family, my work, and my sense of purpose.
For more than a decade, I felt completely lost until I finally surrendered and came to Joshua House.
Through faith, prayer, and God’s Word, I’ve found peace and direction again, and for the first time in years, I truly believe lasting change is possible.

For years, my life was a cycle of drinking, drugs, and losing everything, jobs, relationships, and eventually my home.
When I hit rock bottom, I reached out to Joshua House, where I was met with kindness and began to see real change, even in people I’d known for decades. Through faith and the program, I’m becoming the man I was meant to be, and for the first time, I have real peace and purpose.
